Why the right market…
Top priority to the environmental sector!..Turkey faces a considerable task in adopting EU environmental directives into its national legislation, implementing and enforcing these directives.
The challenge for Turkey, therefore, is to implement environmental policies and strengthen environmental management infrastructure in order to provide enforcement capacity. For this reason, the related regulations are being accepted one after another by the parliament. It is estimated that to adopt its environmental infrastructure into EU directives, 65 billion Euro environmental investment must be realized in Turkey. The amount that would be spent by the central government and municipalities on the capital investment would be 50 billion Euro, whereas the private sector would spend 15 billion Euro.
For the first years, in 81 provinces landfill areas and in 3000 municipalities waste water treatment plants will be built.
